Step 5: Defining Location Availability

Now that we have entered teams and assigned them to Divisions, next we can set up the different playing locations and fieldslocations that games can be played. This step is somewhat independent of teams and divisions and could certainly be set up before teams and players or set up by another individual managing that portion of the league.

Defining availability is a very powerful function. The different combinations to define availability directly leads to how good schedules are and how well utilized fieldslocations are in each playing location. The basic function of the playing location screen is to add all fieldslocations in a particular location followed by the times available for games to be scheduled. Please refer to the Playing Location Screen section of this help file for the details on adding availability slots. Each slot represents a block of time that games can be scheduled for a single or multiple schedule types. When using the scheduler, games are generated and assigned to an available game slot within a location slot. The location slot is a block of time and does not necessarily have to match the duration of a game. Each league or each schedule within a league might have different game durations (practices are 60 minutes, games are 90 minutes and play-offs are 120 minutes). The software can be set up to optimize the assigning of games to location availability.

Once locations availability slots have been entered, your first schedule can be generated.
