Players

Entering player information is completely optional. This program was designed so that you can use either the very minimum amount of information to generate schedules and manage league play, or take advantage of our advanced functions and manage all aspects of your league…and any compromise ground in between. The software was designed to manage adult leagues and minor (junior) leagues, the philosophy of which is quite a bit different. In adult leagues, each team gathers it own players, submits an application and pays a team fee. The league is not responsible for each teams players, other than having waivers or the likes signed. In a minor league scenario, players join a league, go through try-outs, and based on ability or the likes, are grouped together and the league generates teams. The player and not the team pay fees.

When a league is set up, you specify whether the league is an adult league or minor league. This then determines which of several tabs are available on the player’s screen. The functionality is no different, you can manage an adult league like a minor league and visa-versa…specifying the type of league helps reduce the amount of clutter and fields displayed and printed. As fields are described below, it will be indicated whether it applied to minor leagues or not.

Details Tab

Adding a Player

In order to add a new Player, you are required to click the ‘New’ button on the Tool Bar. Before you do this you should ensure that the team that this player belongs on has been selected. If this player is not on a team, select the ‘—UNASSIGNED—’ category. If you add this player to the wrong team, you will have to unassign the player and then reassign him to the proper team or use the Assign Current Season Players to Team function to move a player.

You will notice that Team information is in its own box. This is because this software allows players to be members of more than one team. When that happens, all information for this player in the team box is unique to that team (Player Type, Jersey Number and Position), all other information is unique to the player across all teams that player plays for.

After clicking ‘New’, all tabs except the ‘Details’ tab will disappear. Only those fields marked as required with a Green Ball are required. For the players screen, you are only required to enter the first name and last name. When you have added all necessary player information, select the Save button to commit your changes to the database. The other relevant tabs will then appear and information can be added to them.

You may also use our Import Data functionality to quickly bring in data from any outside system right into the League Analyzer

Updating a Player

Any Player that is presently displayed on the screen can be updated. Simply type any new information and when finished, click the Save button from the Tool bar. The changes are now updated to the database.

Deleting a Player

Any player that is presently displayed on the screen can be deleted. Simply click the delete button on the Tool bar and the record will be deleted. A confirmation message box will be displayed confirming your intentions.

Several things to keep in mind when deleting. When you delete a player, all game statistical information is also deleted. Once you confirm a delete request it is permanent, you cannot reverse the delete with the Undo button.

Finding Players

In order to find a player you will be required to select a team that the player is part of or the ‘—UNASSINGED—’ category. Once a team is displayed (you can select teams from the pulldown) the Index Tree on the left hand side of the screen will display a list of all players on that team. Click on the players name and his information will be displayed. You can also use the next and previous buttons to scroll through the index tree. The index tree can be sorted by last name or Jersey Number.  There is also a quick contact search function in which you can find any player or contact in the software.

Moving a Player

You may wish to move a player from one team to another. This can be done in one of two ways.

  1. First use the UnAssigning Player from Team function to remove a player from their current team and move them to the –UNASSINGED—category. Next, select the team the player is to be moved to either on the Players screen or Teams screen and use the Assign Current Season Players to Team function to reassign the player to the new team.

  2. Go to the Team the player is to be moved to (either on the Players or Teams screen) and use the Assign Current Season Players to Team function to Move the player to the new team. If you click the Assign button, the player will be assigned to the new team and remain with the old team.

Contacts Tab

Please refer to the generic section on adding/updating Contacts.

Other Information Tab

This is very straightforward, update the information and click the Save button. Saving while on this tab saves only the information entered on this tab and not the information on any other tab.

Equipment Tab

This tab has been labelled equipment, but it is really an optional field tab for you to enter any information you wish.

There are three fields.  You can change the names of the grid fields by just going to the headings and typing in new values. The first field should be the label or name of the field.  In the example above, this grid is being used for Combine scores.  The values of the first field are the combine events and they are available from a dropdown list that is updateable from the maintenance tab for the Preferences screen. The other two fields can be labelled and contain any data you wish. Once you click save, the heading are saved and the tab on the players screen will reflect the name of the first column.

Printing

You have two printing options from this screen. The first is to print all player profiles (ordered by team). The other print option only prints the player profile of the currently displayed player.  You can also print Player Suspensions for the entire league from the Reports entry on the Menu Bar.

Through the Edit menu there are also three option to manage players and seasons:

UnAssigning Player from Teams

Assign Current Season Players to Team

Copy Prior Season Players to Team

Unassign All Players from Team
